South Carolina State Fair 2011 Fine Art Exhibition Premiere & Awards Reception, Fairgrounds: 9 October 2011 3 comments
Well, I'm pretty pleased with myself as I was two for two again at getting photos juried into this year's State Fair Fine Arts exhibition. Mind you, I didn't win anything, but I'm happy to be there.
The setup in the Cantey Building is a bit different this year as the photography exhibit is in the balcony area, which I think was an old bicycle exhibit or something like that last year. The program also noted that all the old flourescent lights in the building have been replaced with newer and whiter fixtures for more color balanced lighting on the artwork. I'm not sure I recall the old lights well enough to note the difference, but the new ones are fine. The program also mentioned a Columbia History exhibit this year, I'll have to check it out.

I was 0-fer this year as I didn't have anything I thought was worth entering until two days after registration closed. Oops.
With photography being moved upstairs this year, does that mean more pieces from all categories are in?

Yeah, I let the deadline creep up on me too -- I almost missed it, and did miss the free entry period.
As to the other -- good question. It seemed to me the asile spacing on the Cantey floor was about as usual, so it would make sense for there to be more overall..

Congrats. I was 1-2 and my wife was 2-2 on our pics. We'd hoped to make the reception but didn't get back from Charlerston early enough.
