Sprint, 1270 Bower Parkway #C22: 2010   9 comments

Posted at 12:30 am in closing

Here's yet another phone store gone or moved -- the places seem to come and go overnight.

I wonder if at some point we reached saturation with everyone who's going to get a cellphone having one and business now is in upgrade and maintenance mode..

UPDATE 13 March 2017 -- This place is to become a Persona Pizza:

  1. This Sprint location was originally at the Kennerly Road Publix location. When Sprint and Nextel merged, they moved here.

  3. I would say it's a long way from becoming another Decker Blvd. but if DDR (the commercial real estate firm that leases this shopping center out) isn't careful, it very well could become another Decker Blvd. Several business have had problems with the high rent here and if they aren't careful, that could very easily lead to the downfall of Bower Parkway

  4. One reason why it won't become a Decker, is there is nowhere (for the moment) for stores to relocate in the Harbison area. Obviously everything thing is moving out towards the Ballentine area. Rumor had it that Target is going to open a store near Koon/Broad River Road intersection. That would destroy that plaza. They do need to be careful though, as they can't keep rent too high that nobody can afford to rent there, but if they bottom the rent out, they will get tenants like Dutch Square did. Both the Harbison Wal Mart and Publix are far cries from the Ballentine Wal Mart and the Publix on Highway 6. They just feel old.

  5. I can't fathom a Target in Ballentine but at the same time, the Columbia Station Target does feel antiquated. I've gotten to where I usually go to the Lexington Pavilion Target even though I live closer to Columbiana Station and hte last couple of times I've been to the Columbiana Station Target, it has felt antiquated to me. I remember when it came online in 1999 thinking it was an upgrade and now it feels antiquated after shopping Lexington Pavilion and to a lesser extent Shoppes at Wodhill. Even the Northeast Richland Target feels a little newer that Columbiana Station although the exterior design is similar.

Publix at Columbiana Station does feel nicer than it used to since Publix went on a blitz painting area locations to liven them up, but at the same time, I'm a bigger fan or Murray Landing and have been since Murray Landing opened. That one to me has a unique kick to it that I enjoy when I shop there.

  6. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Harbison Medical Building at the intersection of Harbison Blvd. and Park Terrace Drive is currently being demolished. The excavators are going at it today. It's being razed in favor of Columbiana on Park. No word yet on who will occupy the new development so it is in your best interest to stay tuned for updates as further details develop. I have a few pics of the building as it's being demolished that I hope to share soon.

  8. @JBL I've been wondering that myself...provided that life goes on like planned and this rapture prediction doesn't come to pass and life can continue, I am contemplating establishing a flickr to show you some pics I have taken in recent days of the the demolition of the Harbison Medical Building to make way for Columbiana on Park.
