Technesis, 536 Meeting Street: November 2014 2 comments
I was unaware of Technesis on Meeting Street, but commenter Frank notes:
Technesis at 536 Meeting St in West Columbia has closed.
This was the followup operation to Microprice around 2010.
The owner sold the customers to another IT company out of Charlotte and closed the doors.
It is nice that the customers were taken care of in the closing.
(Hat tip to commenter Frank)

When the bank bought the land where the McDonalds sat, they didn't buy the entire lot.
Between Technesis & the bank, there is a small parking lot that appears to be overflow for the bank. The paving isn't as new here as for the bank. The for sale sign for this lot is only for the narrow parking lot.Junior

I worked in this building in the late ‘90s when it was part of Kline Steel. Before that is was Palmetto Detailing and some time before that it was some kind of veterinary office. I think it became Microprice after Kline moved to Williams street in ’99 or ’00.
As a side note, the McDonalds, next door to this building closed, when the location at Gervais and Huger opened. The owner of the old McDonalds had to re-roof their building before it could be sold or leased as it was, since apparently the roof design is trademarked by McDonalds. Anyway, when the building was finally sold, instead of modifying the existing structure to suit their needs, they came in with several dump trucks, demolished the building and hauled it off to the dump. I always thought it was a huge waste for an entire restaurant to end up in a landfill somewhere.
