{"id":631,"date":"2009-09-12T00:39:19","date_gmt":"2009-09-12T05:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=631"},"modified":"2020-08-10T23:10:00","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T03:10:00","slug":"eckerd-drugs-richland-mall-early-2000s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=631","title":{"rendered":"Eckerd Drugs, Richland Mall: Early 2000s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"..\/pix\/09\/09\/richland_eckerds01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/pix\/09\/09\/richland_eckerds01_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This space, to the right of <i>Barnes & Noble<\/i> on the lower level of <i>Richland Mall<\/i> was the mall's drugstore, <i>Eckerd Drugs<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>I'm trying to remember if the original <i>Richland Mall<\/i> had a drug store and I don't think it did.  <i>Eckerd's<\/i> came in with the enclosed <i>Richland Fashion Mall<\/i> stage, and may have ended there.  I don't <i>think<\/i> it made it to the <i>Midtown at Forest Acres<\/i> stage, but I'm not sure exactly when that started, and I refuse to call the mall that anyway.<\/p>\n<p>It certainly did <i>not<\/i> make it as late as the <i>Rite-Aid<\/i> buyout of <i>Eckerd's<\/i>.  I'm not sure exactly when it closed, but I think it was the early 2000s.  By that time, <i>Eckerd's<\/i> had already seen the writing on the wall which required corner stores, and had moved the <i>Trenholm Plaza<\/i> store to the current corner-equivalent location that <i>RIte AId<\/i> on Forest Drive now occupies.
