I guess that's because I think of the chain as downscale but savvy:  A <i>Dollar General<\/i> store isn't going to be brim-full of high margin items, but they seem to know their customer base and to be quite competent at what they do.<\/p>\n<p>I do know that in some places (such as Pawleys Island) they have pulled a store out of an underperforming strip mall to re-open it nearby as a standalone building, but I don't think that is the case here -- though certainly factoring together this pullout with the recent <a href=\"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=5408\">Hi-Lites<\/a> pullout, <i>Parkland Plaza<\/i> has to be marked as underperforming..<\/p>\n<p>(Hat tip to commenter Andrew)<\/p>\n<p><b>UPDATE 1 April 2025<\/b>: Adding map icon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/901+State+Street+Cayce,+SC+29033\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/pix\/misc\/world_map_icon.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was very surprised to hear that Dollar General had pulled out of Parkland Plaza.
