{"id":376,"date":"2009-04-08T00:58:59","date_gmt":"2009-04-08T05:58:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=376"},"modified":"2022-04-04T23:50:34","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T03:50:34","slug":"western-auto-advance-auto-parts-7325-two-notch-road-mid-2000s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=376","title":{"rendered":"Western Auto \/ Advance Auto Parts, 7325 Two Notch Road: Mid 2000s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"..\/pix\/09\/04\/western_auto02.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/pix\/09\/04\/western_auto02_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/pix\/09\/04\/western_auto03.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/pix\/09\/04\/western_auto03_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/pix\/09\/04\/western_auto04.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/pix\/09\/04\/western_auto04_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can still see the empty placard in the <i>K-Mart<\/i> sign showing where the <i>Advance Auto Parts<\/i> sign used to be -- If <i>K-Mart<\/i> were in better shape itself, they probably would have pulled that down, as it looks decrepit and bad for their brand.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the way I recall it, this space <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityfeet.com\/CommercialRealEstateForLease\/DetailedListing.aspx?PartnerPath=&UserListingId=15945718&source=LN&level=1&LID=1916801\">which apparently dates from 1970 like the K-Mart<\/a>, was in its first iteration, a <i>Western Auto<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>The <i>Western Auto<\/i> that I remember best was the one at Trenholm Plaza, where I used to browse the <i>Western Flyer<\/i> bikes and buy those huge 1-volt carbon-zinc batteries with the screw terminals for hobby projects.  I know I went into this store a number of times, but I can't really reall anything specific about it.  <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Western_Auto\">Wikipedia says<\/a> that <i>Western Auto<\/i> was acquired first by <i>Sears,<\/i> and then later by <i>Advance Auto Parts<\/i>, which phased out the <i>Western Auto<\/i> name (mostly) in 2003 (though many stores had already switch to \"Advance\" by then), and in fact this store was an <i>Advance<\/i> when it closed.<\/p>\n<p>That history is a bit ironic since <i>K-Mart<\/i> like <i>Western Auto<\/i> was bought by Sears.
