Also, <i>Publix<\/i> \"Presto\" ATMs are about the only sure thing for not triggering a fraud alert on my debit card when I am on the road, so imagine my surprise last week when I went to get some cash and found the whole store mostly demolished.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaxdailyrecord.com\/news\/2025\/apr\/08\/fernandina-beach-publix-closing-april-26-followed-by-a-demolition-rebuild\/\">local reports<\/a>, the store closed in April and is to be rebuilt in place as a larger store, with <i>Publix Pours<\/i> kiosk which sounds like more of an internal restaurant than the current deli sections.  Apparently the new store is to be like the one in <i>Wellington<\/i> a place I don't believe I have ever heard of before.<\/p>\n<p>This shopping center, <a href=\"https:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?tag=island-walk-shopping-center\">Island Walk Shopping Center<\/a> is the site of several other posts here, including <a href=\"https:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=5266\">Kmart<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=19891\">Barberitos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the interim, there is a <i>Publix<\/i> west on A1A a few miles at the new <i>Wildlight<\/i> development in <i>Yulee<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/1421+Sadler+Rd,+Fernandina+Beach,+FL+32034\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/pix\/misc\/world_map_icon.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since the grocery store at the corner of Centre &#038; 6th Streets closed and turned into an antique mall, probably in the early 80s I'm guessing, this Publix has been my go-to when in Fernandina.
