In fact, looking at StreetView, it has apparently been vacant as far back as 2008.  It's a bit of a shame as it's an interesting building with that odd rise on the left side and the stone roof facade over the rest of the front.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically one of the hits I *<i>do<\/i>* see for it is this <a href=\"https:\/\/development.columbiasc.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/vabip_press_release_and_program_launch_invite.pdf\">May 2016 press release<\/a> about the \"CEZ\/City Of Columbia Vacant Abandoned Building Incentive Program (VABIP)\".  I'm thinking it was not one of the more successful civic efforts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loopnet.com\/property\/2644-river-dr-columbia-sc-29201\/45079-091090601\/\">Here<\/a> is the little that LoopNet has to say about the building.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone knows what it was, I will update the post title to reflect that.<\/p>\n<p><b>UPDATE 13 February 2025<\/b> -- As noted above, the post title here was originally just \"Building\" as I had no idea what it had been.
