{"id":17295,"date":"2020-10-06T22:22:13","date_gmt":"2020-10-07T02:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=17295"},"modified":"2020-10-06T22:22:13","modified_gmt":"2020-10-07T02:22:13","slug":"remember-movies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?p=17295","title":{"rendered":"Remember Movies?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"..\/pix\/20\/06\/p1630346.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/pix\/20\/06\/p1630346_tn.jpg\" title=\"p1630346_tn.jpg\" alt=\"p1630346_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/pix\/20\/06\/p1630344.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/pix\/20\/06\/p1630344_tn.jpg\" title=\"p1630344_tn.jpg\" alt=\"p1630344_tn.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As has been mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/columbiaclosings.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=16619#comment-3191889\">Have Your Say<\/a> several times today, <i>Regal<\/i> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coladaily.com\/business\/regal-cinemas-to-close-all-locations-until-further-notice\/article_833b6e94-0736-11eb-92d4-9bb097a8278f.html\">re-closing its theaters<\/a> Thursday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/coronavirus-live-updates\/2020\/10\/05\/920367787\/regal-movie-chain-will-close-all-536-u-s-theaters-on-thursday\">after having reopened them (where it could) a month or so ago<\/a>.  The reason is pretty simple really: <i>No Movies<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>After the pulling of <i>Wonder Woman<\/i>, <i>Black Widow<\/i>, and as the last straw, <i>James Bond<\/i>, the theaters have nothing to show.  Granted the box office of the few films that did limp out like <i>Bill & Ted 3<\/i>, <i>New Mutants<\/i> & <i>Tenet<\/i> was not good, but you have to keep the pump primed.  It appears to me that the studios are cutting their own throats by letting the theater chains go under.  Sure maybe you're not going to get your money back on the next few films, but you've got to keep people thinking about movies, and you're sure not going to get a billion dollar film over streaming.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, I see that the <i>St. Andrews<\/i> bargain cinemas are doing what they can with screenings of classics like <i>The Empire Strikes Back<\/i> and <i>Harry Potter<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><i>Here's looking at you, kid<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As has been mentioned in Have Your Say several times today, Regal is re-closing its theaters Thursday after having reopened them (where it could) a month or so ago.
